Rebuilding Damaged Trust-Tough Test Of Love

By LoveBug On October 2, 2007 Under Heart Break

Shattered trust is very difficult to rebuild. Lying should never take place in a relationship. Partners should be able to trust one another implicitly without any doubt.

If you even got to the point that a partner could betray the other, then a serious breakdown of communication had to have happened. You need to both fully recommit to being fully honest with each other. One natural result of a betrayal is that the partners don’t really trust each other afterwards.

If your partner betrays you, it can be very easy to find a lot of voices yelling out “Run away, you deserve better.” This may be true. But it should be your decision and not based on what your friends feel is best for you. They may not always understand the situation or know the intimate details of your relationship. Unless you trust a friend with your own life, only then take his/her advice making sure that they don’t have any ulterior motive behind their advice.

To a person capable of lying, just saying “I’m sorry” may seem like enough. You already lied-you already showed your inability to be believed, so why should your partner believe in you now? You have to show that you are seriously committed to the relationship and will do everything possible to make it work. Keep apologizing and showing your commitment to a new way of thinking.

Cheating on a partner shows self defeating. One night stands are extremely common and one needs to think hard and decide if their partner would really be trusted again. In such situations it shows us and whoever we cheat with that we lack loyalty. So think hard before you get tempted. Is it really worth jeopardizing the trust that is developed and nurtured based on love and trust?
